Pro-Ject Xtension 9 Super Pack

The Xtension 9 is an ideal solution for anyone who is looking for exceptional sound quality with a compact foot print.

The Xtension 9 incorporates all of Pro-Ject’s 20 years experience in turntable design.

Chassis

The chassis is made from MDF which gives a high mass and is non-resonant. But in addition the turntable also uses magnetic feet, which decouple the main plinth from its base. The result of this combination is a merging of the influential ‘mass loaded’ and ‘floating turntable’ design principles.

Platter

Instead of the old-standard adoption of pure metal for a main platter, Pro-Ject researched and uncovered a perfect alloy material, which has then be damped on the inner side with thermo plastic elastomers (TPE).

Taking this base structure, they have then glued recycled Vinyl records to the top (which act as a perfect mat) and baked this ‘sandwich’ before precision balancing it.

The Xtension 9 subsequently benefits from a wonderfully resonance-free, heavy platter, that runs ultra-silently on an inverted ceramic ball-bearing, with magnetic suspension.

Tonearm

9cc

The Xtension 9 comes pre-fitted with the Pro-Ject 9cc Evolution Tonearm. Constructed from carbon-fibre, the armtube is efficiently designed to lead parasitic vibrations away from the cartridge into the mounting board which guarantees the precise tracking of the record grooves by the needle and also facilitates fine adjustment of vertical and horizontal tracing.

Cartridge

qblack

Usually worth £679, the Ortofon Quintet Black S comes pre-fitted to the Xtension 9. Graced with a Nude Shibata diamond, the Quintet Black S is considered one of the best stylus profiles available, mounted on a high-performance Boron cantilever. The Shibata’s slim, highly polished profile allows an exceedingly wide contact area to the walls of the groove and ensures detailed and pure reproduction through out the spectrum, including even the most high frequency groove details.

Finally, the Xtension 9 Super pack is also supplied with a beautiful dustcover with adjustable hinges, and is available in three high-gloss lacquer finishes.

Brand

Pro-Ject

Pro-Ject was founded in 1991, during the onslaught of the compact disc and CD players, with the mission to offer the best analogue experience for reasonable prices. In a time where the digital audio media had been on the rise, and vinyl was declared as outdated and dead, Heinz Lichtenegger kept his belief in the simple but best way to enjoy music – turntables Their aim is to get as many people as possible into the wonderful hobby that is HiFi audio and to deliver a real stereo experience for the lowest cost possible. The best way to start there is with a proper turntable. They want to give the customers back the right to choose what they need, without overblowing their products with unnecessary features. At Pro-Ject they strive to create astonishing products with impeccable value. They only use the best components for the price and manufacture their handmade goods solely in Europe. With an eye for future trends they are always trying to fit the needs of the market. With an unexpected hit-review of the Pro-Ject 1, the success-story began its first major chapter. With the gaining popularity and interest, more and more international distributors began to make Pro-Ject turntables available in their countries. Today they ship into more than 80 countries world-wide and are happy to share some of their passion with every customer. With cutting edge technologies and machines, they are able to create visually pleasing products without losing the eye for the finest details. In Czech Republic, they produce all their turntables from scratch, by hand and in house. From the tiniest screw to the chassis, everything is done by their technicians. A strict four step quality control ensures that everything works as intended. In Slovakia they manufacture micro sized high end audio components. By shrinking the cabinets to a miniature size, they were able to save costs and offer their customers a true price to performance relation.
