The Doug Webb Group – Variations
A Hot New Hard Fusion Experience Exclusively from Impex on 180g Vinyl
Features Legendary Tool Drummer Danny Carey
Mixed to Analogue Tape from the Original Digital Recordings by Roy Hendrickson
Analogue Mastering by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering
Since 2014, master saxophonist Doug Webb has been leading the unofficial “house band” at the famed L.A. jazz club The Baked Potato.
This skillful group includes a Grammy®-winning guitarist (Jamie Kime), nominated bassist (Jimmy Earl, formerly of The Tonight Show), a renowned keyboardist (Mitchel Forman) and one of the world’s greatest rock drummers (Tool’s Danny Carey).
Over a decade of playing, they developed a nearly-telepathic chemistry, blending their unique instrumental voices to create a forceful yet refined sound reminiscent of ’70s powerhouses Jeff Beck, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Billy Cobham.
Now Impex Records presents The Doug Webb Group playing the best of their show material recorded live in studio and available in two formats: a six song 180-gram LP and an expanded nine track compact disc.
In a rare audiophile upgrade, the LP’s tracks were remixed to analog tape by Roy Hendrickson (Saturday Night in San Francisco) and mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman mastering. The CD’s three bonus tracks retain the original digital mixes.
