Platinum Series has always represented Monitor Audio’s engineering and design prowess and the 3rd generation is no exception.
Their UK-based design team worked closely with our acoustic engineers to deliver an aesthetic that celebrates the high-performance components without overpowering its surroundings.
The cabinet design on Platinum Series 3G is all new.
Beautifully detailed and expertly crafted, their industry-leading attention to detail and passion for quality ensures that each cabinet is elegant and refined on the eyes, while being engineered for total acoustic performance.
Constructed using laminated layers of MDF to form a curved and braced super rigid 18-21mm cabinet on the rear with a 36mm thick baffle precision machined to create a unique curved front profile.
The cabinets are then embellished with etched inlays to highlight the craftsmanship, before 16 layers of lacquer are added on top to create a beautiful, luxury piano gloss finish.
A pure satin matte finish is applied to models finished in white – a contemporary statement in any interior.
A technical legacy with ‘Concept 50’ technology
Platinum Series 3G builds on two generations of loudspeaker design, which has consistently evolved at each step.
They have introduced a ground-up new MPD III transducer, developed for the ‘Concept 50’ speaker, which improves on every aspect, as well as improvements to the mid and bass driver cones called RDT III – a further significant development in driver technology.

Precision perfect
The Rigid Diaphragm Technology III (RDT III) cone has three new optimisations over its predecessor.
Firstly, a new rear layer featuring two uniform layers of carbon fibre skin helps reduce cone breakup, as does an optimised rubber surround.
Finally, an optimised cone edge treatment extends the passband of the drivers.
When combined, these innovations significantly increase the useable bandwidth, enabling improvements to the crossover and final response of the speaker.
The result: Platinum 3G mid and bass drivers boast the lowest distortion of any Monitor Audio speaker in its history.

Aluminium Driver Frames
The drivers on the Platinum Series 3G are held in place with individually cast aluminium frames, creating two layers of isolation between the driver chassis and the cabinet.
New Outrigger Feet
The new Platinum outrigger foot assemblies have been precision engineered to form a solid platform for the floorstanding speakers while presenting a more elegant aesthetic compared to a cumbersome plinth.
