Magico A3

Magico A3

The inspiration for the new Magico A3 was driven by the engineering challenge to create not only a full range loudspeaker that incorporates similar design philosophies found in higher-end Magico offerings but to provide an entry level category that is accessible to a new and wider audience of music enthusiasts.

The A3 enclosure is formed with machined 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminum and includes a complex internal bracing structure that increases the stiffness and mass of the enclosure while minimising overall resonance.

A3 Enclosure

A calibrated sub-enclosure provides an optimized environment for the mid-range driver to operate within and without any interaction from the back wave pressure of the bass drivers.

The black brushed aluminum enclosure is lustrous and stands firmly on a 4-point spiked outrigger base which provides perfect coupling to the floor for enhanced dynamic range.

Extended high frequencies are provided by a newly designed Magico pure beryllium-diaphragm with an optimised 28-mm dome surface that is based on the fundamental design platform of the M-Project tweeter.

A customised neodymium motor system is encased in an improved back chamber with new damping materials which provide ultra-low distortion, higher power handling, massive dynamic capabilities and extended linear voice coil movement.

A newly designed Magico 6-inch mid-range driver sets a new benchmark of measured performance in both frequency bandwidth and time domains.

The cone material is formulated using Multi-Wall carbon fiber and a layer of XG Nanographene, which provides optimal stiffness to weight ratio with ideal damping properties.

A new overhung neodymium based motor system incorporates extra-large magnets to ensure a stabilised magnetic field in the 75-mm pure titanium voice coil.

All four drivers in the Magico A3 are tested and optimised for acoustical, mechanical, electromagnetic, and thermal behaviors using the latest state-of-the-art Finite Element Analysis simulation testing equipment.

Acoustically integrated using Magico’s exclusive Elliptical Symmetry Crossover topology that utilises state-of-the-art components from Mundorf of Germany.

The 3-way dividing network features a 24db per octave Linkwitz-Riley filter that maximizes frequency bandwidth while preserving phase linearity and minimising intermodulation distortion.

Grilles are optional at £850.00

Magico Located in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. The new 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art campus in Hayward, CA. Magico employs highly trained craftsmen, technicians and machinists. These employees are highly specialised and dedicated to their specific craft, allowing them the capabilities of translating ideas and concepts into designs as well as fabricating prototypes, and manufacturing the whole product without outsourcing. The assembly area within the new campus. A considerably larger area with better work station layout dramatically improves work flow. Coupled with modern infrastructure, this optimises efficiency and improves quality control of all their products.

Resonances in the body of a musical instrument are an essential part of defining its nature and quality.

The opposite is true of a loudspeaker.

Cabinet panel resonances are a significant cause of sound coloration.

Heavy bracing of a typical MDF enclosure can help reduce enclosure flex but at the cost of increased energy storage and damping factor.

Although a welcome attribute for midrange outout, over damping is detrimental to bass performance (high energy storage, low wide Q and low resonances).

MAGICO has spent many years developing an enclosure system that successfully balances the 3 elements that constitute a proper loudspeaker enclosure: stiffness, mass, and internal damping.

Having pioneered the use of aluminum in loudspeakers design. They built their first aluminum enclosure back in 1994 and have never looked back. Extremely stiff yet easy to damp, a properly designed aluminum enclosure is the ideal platform for high-performance loudspeakers. So inert, the enclosures have no discernible coloration of their own-allowing the drivers to operate with the utmost clarity and dynamics. Though costly to implement, the use of aluminum in their enclosures plays a vital role in design philosophy.
