Combining Naim’s expertise in streaming, amplification and loudspeaker technology, muso is the stage your music deserves.

ENGINEERING

Beneath its anodised aluminium skin mu-so is alive with innovation. At its heart an active arrangement of six digital amplifiers deliver a total of 450 watts of power to six custom-designed speakers.

BASS REFLEX SYSTEM

musofrgrilloff
Two large custom bass drivers are supported by a sophisticated porting system with an outlet at the end of the cabinet. This was carefully designed to move large volumes of air with low turbulence for richly textured, low distortion bass and treble.

ACRYLIC BASE

musofrontleftout
The whole mu-so cabinet sits on an illuminated base of high-grade acrylic which provides the foundation for the electronics and speakers to shine.

DSP

The mu-so audio brain is a 32-bit digital signal processor with software fine-tuned by our engineers in the listening room.
Two EQ settings tailor sound for close to and away from room boundaries for superb sound quality anywhere in your home.

SILK-DOME TWEETERS

Silk dome tweeters were chosen through listening tests to replace the traditional metal cones found in many wireless speakers for their benefit to sound quality.

MID – RANGE DRIVERS

Custom mid-range drivers provide crystal clear speech and emotively powerful vocals. Naim Audio found through tests that positioning
them as the outermost driver aided even sound dispersion.

CONTROL APP

Unite all of your music in one place with the intuitive Naim control app for iOS devices and Android and put millions of songs at your fingertips. You can just scratch the surface or go deeper to explore information on artists, discographies, biographies, reviews, image galleries, similar music and more. The app even includes a simple set up wizard so you’ll be online and listening to more music than ever before in no time.

MATERIALS AND DESIGN muso

There are many elements of design craft that make mu-so a unique system. All are born from a desire for music performance and quality.

musorear

An extruded aluminium heat sink maximizes thermal performance. The wooden speaker cabinet, designed for acoustic performance, is wrapped in a layer of high-grade aluminium to provide extra dampening for a distortion free sound.

The volume control is constructed from a ring of solid aluminium which runs the circumference of the touch-panel control interface with its patent-pending system of illumination.

The embedded antenna system is another patent-pending mu-so innovation, providing seamless and robust Wi-Fi connectivity

F E AT U R E S muso

Unleash your digital music, wherever it’s stored.

Connect mu-so to your network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi to open up a world of music.

Stream music in breath-taking high-resolution wirelessly via UPnP™ and AirPlay or browse and play millions of songs through Spotify Connect and Internet Radio.

High quality Bluetooth (aptX) audio connectivity, a USB input for charging and playback of smart phones, tablets and MP3 players, a 3.5mm analogue input and a digital input for TVs, set-top boxes and games consoles make mu-so the complete music centre.

You can create a multiroom music system by using mu-so with other Naim streaming players or simply by selecting multiple mu-so systems using AirPlay from iTunes on Mac.

Naim Audio

Naim Audio Their story begins with one man’s passion for music and weaves its way through four decades and a raft of iconic product launches to the present day. Naim Audio founder Julian Vereker MBE (1945-2000) was a racing car driver, entrepreneur and self-taught engineer with a deep passion for music. Spending his spare time listening to and recording his friends playing live in the 1960s, Julian found that playback on his system at home fell woefully short of the experience he craved. Not content with second best he decided to design his own amplifiers and loudspeakers, ignoring accepted wisdom and focusing on aspects of performance that made music burst to life. These first designs laid the foundations for a range of iconic and award-winning hi-fi products that would reach well into the next century. 1972 A first start at Capital Radio Julian won a contract to supply then start-up radio station, Capital Radio, with audio equipment. The successful design was a compact version of an early Naim Audio power amplifier combined with speaker drive units in one cabinet – the NAM 502 1973 Naim Audio Officially Founded Following the success of Capital Radio, Naim Audio was officially incorporated in 1973 with Julian Vereker and his co-founder Shirley Clarke as directors. Based in a shop in the centre of Salisbury, our first HQ had both manufacturing and demonstration facilities. 1973 The NAP 200 Power Amplifier Naim Audio's first consumer product for home use was launched in the year of our founding: the NAP 200 power amplifier. Originally designed in 1971, its descendant’s power amplifiers differ greatly technologically but still aim for the same performance goals of pace, rhythm and timing 1974 The NAC 12 Preamplifier With a network of dedicated independent retailers now on board in the UK, the NAC 12, our first production preamplifier, was launched. 1980 Classic Advertising As Naim Audio grew in popularity through the 70s and early 80s, the team decided to grab the attention of the press and public with a series of tongue-in-cheek adverts. They reflected the confident, often unorthodox nature of our approach to music playback and have become iconic in their own right. 1983 NAIT Integrated Amplifier Naim Audio’s first integrated amplifier the NAIT introduced. This iconic little integrated amp sounded quite unlike any other integrated of its day and set a trend for so-called ‘super integrateds 1985 The Queen's Award Naim Audio is recognised with the prestigious Queen’s Award for the first time in 1985. We would go on to repeat this achievement a further two times in the 21st century, winning for Export in 2010 and for Innovation in digital music streaming in 2014. 1991 The CDS CD Player Like so many Naim Audio products, the design of our first CD player, the CDS, flew in the face of conventional wisdom. Its Two-box configuration gave the power supply its own separate enclosure and the CD clamp used a rare earth magnet to keep its mass low whilst still firmly holding the disc without vibration 2000 NAP 500 Power Amplifier The year 2000 marked a step change in Naim Audio history. After several years in development, the new flagship Naim Audio NAP 500 power amplifier was born and with it the new industrial design aesthetic that would redefine Naim Audio for the 21st century. Its music-making ability would only be bettered by the arrival of Statement in 2014.
